TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — While a recruiting dead period is now in place, Alabama coaches hosted one last camp for the summer with one rather large name in attendance.

A Kiffin, Knox to be exact, was inside the Crimson Tide facilities this weekend with his recruitment just beginning as a member of the 2028 recruiting class.

The Ole Miss coach accompanied his son to Alabama’s high school football camp where the quarterback prospect threw alongside other rising recruits.

The visit marked a full-circle moment for the Kiffin family, nearly a decade after Lane served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator under Nick Saban from 2014 to 2016.

Coach Kiffin shared the camp visit on his X account with Alabama football tagged in the post.

The 6-foot-2, 170 pound quarterback already has a few scholarship offers in his pocket including SMU, Arkansas State, Sacramento State, FIU, Western Kentucky and several others.

Kiffin, the quarterback prospect was in shorts, t-shirt and cleats working with other quarterback prospects with Alabama staffers tossing balls to simulate snaps from center to make throws.

In the photo collage, Lane also posted a photo of Knox with the Crimson Tide’s presumed starting quarterback this fall, Ty Simpson.

Knox appears to have the same sense of humor that his dad has, albeit dry but hilarious as he stood behind the podium with a Coca-Cola to his left, just like his father and legendary coach Nick Saban did.

Despite the SEC rivalry between Alabama and Ole Miss, the visit underscores the personal connections that still exist between the Kiffin’s and the Alabama program.

Lane has often credited Saban with revitalizing his coaching career, and the two remain in contact.

Knox’s development will be closely watched over the next few seasons as he transitions to Oxford High School in Mississippi after playing his freshman season at Palos Verdes where he threw for 750 yards and 12 touchdowns in six games.

Whether Alabama eventually offers remains to be seen but the visit was a meaningful step in Knox’s journey and a reminder that relationships often outlast rivalries in college football.

As mentioned earlier, there is now a dead period in place now through July 31 which means no contact or evaluations can happen on or off campus.
