Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson attempts pass.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — It’s that time of year, talkin’ season is upon us and everyone is itching to get back on the field and play.

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson will be going into his fourth year with the Crimson Tide without a single start in his career.

In the days where staying with one program to develop has simply become a rare thing to do, Simpson, along with several other quarterbacks around the country have earned respect from a Heisman and national championship contender.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubinik praised many of his fellow competitors at the Manning Passing Academy for persevering and staying with one program when it’s easy to enter the transfer portal to seek playing time elsewhere.

“I’ve got so much respect for the guys who are staying loyal,” Klubnik said Friday. “Guys like Arch [Manning], Garrett Nussmeier, Drew Allar and Ty Simpson. Those are the guys that come to mind. The guys that believe in the program and believe in the culture that they’re at. Just chase to get better every single year. There’s a reason that those are four of the best quarterbacks in college football right now. Guys that have stayed loyal, that have put their noses to the dirt and just went to work, and those are the guys that I respect so much.”

Simpson hasn’t been given the nod from Alabama coaches that he is indeed the starter going into the 2025 season opener against Florida State but the expectation is he will be.

“Ty earned [the starting spot],” Grubb said during the spring. “That’s the line everybody’s looking for. That is what he earned.”

He will have a solid supporting cast with running back Jam Miller, a solid group of receivers and an offensive line that returns four starters.

In 12 career games, Simpson has completed 29-of- 50 passes for 381 yards with most snaps coming in mop up duty.
